Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026
This policy explains what data this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: the novel itself requires no personal information, we do not sell anything to anyone, and we never send your name or email address to an advertising platform — because we never collect them.
Information we collect
We do not ask you to create an account, and there is no login. The site may store the following on your own device using browser storage:
- Your reading preferences — theme, text size and line spacing (localStorage).
- Your last reading position — which chapter you reached and how far into it (localStorage).
- Whether you have opted out of analytics, if you use the opt-out described below (localStorage, key
hp:consent). - The chapter numbers you opened during the current browser tab session (sessionStorage). This list stays on your device; only an aggregate count (for example “this session visited 2 chapters”) may be sent to the measurement tools described below.
This information is not linked to an identity. Clearing your browser storage removes it entirely.
Cookies and advertising
This site is supported by advertising provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info and optout.aboutads.info.
Advertising cookies are set by Google, not by us. We do not have access to them and do not use them ourselves.
The main cookies you may receive from this site are:
_ga,_ga_*— Google Analytics; distinguish browsers and sessions (up to 24 months)._fbp,_fbc— Meta Pixel; browser identifier and click identifier for ad measurement (up to 90 days).IDE,__gads,__gpi— Google advertising; frequency capping, personalisation and conversion measurement (up to 13 months).
Analytics and measurement
We use two measurement tools to understand how the novel is read and which chapters keep readers engaged. The data they receive is limited to technical and behavioural signals described below. No account data, names or email addresses exist to send.
- Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) — records page views, the chapter you are reading, how far you have read, how long you actively read (in seconds), whether you finished a chapter, chapter-to-chapter navigation and whether an ad slot was visible. We do not track ad clicks (advertising is served in a separate frame). It sets first-party cookies such as
_gaand_ga_*. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. - Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.) — records page views, which chapter you opened (as a separate per-chapter event), chapter completion (including active reading seconds), chapter-to-chapter navigation, whether a session read more than one chapter, and whether you finished the book, so that advertising on Facebook and Instagram can be measured and improved. It sets cookies such as
_fbpand_fbc. You can manage this in your Meta ad preferences, or opt out of interest-based advertising through the industry pages listed above.
We do not send your name, email address, or any other directly identifying information to either tool, and we do not use server-side event forwarding (Conversions API).
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, and you can block analytics by clearing the site’s storage and blocking third-party scripts. If your browser or a browser extension exposes a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not load the Meta Pixel and we restrict Google’s advertising signals; site analytics are still recorded unless you block them in your browser.
Do Not Sell or Share. We do not sell your personal information for money. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, online advertising and cross-context behavioural data can count as “sharing” or “selling” for cross-context behavioural advertising. We honour a Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of that sharing for this site. You can also email us at the address below to request an opt-out, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising it.
Server logs and hosting
Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process technical logs such as IP address, browser type, requested URL and timestamp in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. These logs are used for security and operations, not to build a profile of you.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because the data we store is device-local and anonymous, the simplest way to exercise these rights is to clear your browser storage for this site. For anything else, contact us at [email protected].
Third-party links
This site links to other websites (for example, Google Ads Settings). We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and they have their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
